Our Weight Loss Medications

  1. Semaglutide: Semaglutide also known as Ozempic or Wegovy is an injectable medication given once a week that belongs to a class of drugs called GLP-1 receptor agonists. It helps control blood sugar levels, food absorption and appetite, making it an excellent weight loss medication. Side effects may include mild nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation and decreased appetite. You can be on this medication long term.

  2. Phentermine: Phentermine is an FDA-approved appetite suppressant that works by decreasing hunger and cravings. It is commonly prescribed to help jump-start weight loss efforts and provide short-term support. Phentermine can help control your appetite, making it easier to stick to a reduced-calorie diet. Common side effects may include dry mouth, insomnia, increased heart rate, and elevated blood pressure. Typically this medication is only used for the short term and is stopped after a few months of usage.

  3. Contrave: Contrave is a medication that combines bupropion and naltrexone. It targets both appetite control and reward pathways in the brain, helping to reduce cravings and promote weight loss. Contrave is often prescribed for individuals struggling with overeating, binge eating, or emotional eating. If you eat when you are depressed or use food as a coping mechanism then this medication will likely be a good fit for you. Side effects may include nausea, headache, constipation, and dizziness. You can be on this medication long term.

  4. Qsymia: Qsymia is a combination medication that contains phentermine and topiramate extended-release. Phentermine helps suppress appetite, while topiramate affects certain brain chemicals involved in appetite control. Qsymia is commonly prescribed for individuals with a BMI of 30 or higher or those with a BMI of 27 or higher and at least one weight-related condition. The combination with topiramate allows for a lower dose of phentermine, meaning it is safe to take this medication for the long term. Common side effects may include tingling in the hands and feet, dizziness, insomnia, and dry mouth.

Learn About Our Medication Options

  • Semaglutide shares the same active ingredient as Ozempic and Wegovy, was medication that was initially developed to treat type 2 diabetes. However, recent studies have shown that it can also be highly effective and safe in promoting weight loss. The medication works by mimicking the effects of a hormone called GLP-1, which helps to regulate appetite and reduce food intake. When semaglutide binds to these receptors, it activates them and sends signals to the brain that you are full and satisfied.

  • Qsymia is a prescription medication that, when taken in combination with proper diet and exercise, can help certain individuals with their weight loss goals. It's comprised of two distinct components: Adipex-P (phentermine), an anorexiant that reduces food intake, and Topamax (topiramate), an anti-seizure medicine. Qsymia releases certain chemicals in the brain hypothalamus that have appetite-suppressing effects, resulting in reduced food consumption. The exact way it achieves this is unknown yet remains one of the most effective treatments available today.

Common side effects of Qsymia include:

    Dry mouth

    Headache

    Constipation

    Dry mouth

Numbness and tingling in the arms, feet, or face

Change in taste or having a loss of taste

    Nausea

    Diarrhea

    Stuffy nose

    Loss of strength

    Insomnia

  • Phentermine is a powerful stimulant similar to an amphetamine. When taken, it activates the central nervous system, increasing heart rate and blood pressure. At the same time, phentermine also reduces appetite. It can be used in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise routine to help combat obesity and its associated risks, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes. With proper use, phentermine has been proven to be one of the most effective treatments for obesity available today.

Common side effects of phentermine include:

    itching

    dizziness headache

    dry mouth

    unpleasant taste

    diarrhea

    constipation

    stomach pain

increased or decreased interest in sex.

  • Contrave is a combination medication comprised of bupropion and naltrexone. Bupropion, an antidepressant, works to decrease appetite while Naltrexone is usually used to block the effects of opioid or alcohol in people with addiction problems. Aside from limiting cravings for food, Naltrexone may also help reduce hunger. Contrave is prescribed for overweight adults dealing with weight-related medical issues and must be taken alongside a proper diet and exercise regimen to be effective.

    Common Contrave side effects include:

    nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation

    headache, dizziness

    dry mouth

    sleep problems (insomnia)
